Being an OC girl, anything LA just feels... overwhelming! I went to visit my cousin today, have lunch with her. We went to Taste on Melrose... cute place! Very cozy, good service.
I should probably preface this with the fact that I was in traffic for an hour going into LA, 36 miles, according to Google maps. And I got lost. I was going back and forth on Melrose because I couldn't find the restaurant. And street parking?!?! What the heck is THAT all about?? I don't carry coins in my purse for metered parking! The OC has these things called "parking lots" in front of their stores and restaurants.....
Yummy butternut squash soup with a BLT! And fries. That I wanted to eat with chopsticks. Because they were cut flat.
Afterwards, we decided to go to Sweet Lady Jane Bakery. It started raining. Actually, it was raining off and on since the morning, but what I meant to say was that it started raining when we stepped out of the restaurant.
We were greeted by 2 elderly gentlemen seated by the window speaking very loudly into a phone. They appeared to have very much enjoyed their desserts. And they made sure the waitress knew. And the waitress made sure they knew that she was a writer, writing a play, and there would be something on stage on Thursday, here's a flyer....
And... in walks JANICE DICKINSON. Wow. Ordered a cookie and a chocolate tart that she scarfed down while ordering a cake and a few other goodies. She ordered the cookie after seeing my cousin get one with her "light" tea (apparently, our waitress doesn't drink the tea that is served in the bakery - she was unable to make any recommendations....).
Janice is... in her own little world. She talks to anyone, everyone, and appears to enjoy eating pastries. And while she was there, in walked 4 people wearing all black. FOUR BEAUTIFUL people. Sunglasses, scarves, IPhones... beautiful hair and eyes. The waitress said, "Fashion police? Geez, let me fix my hair!"
And then we decided to leave - no, actually, we HAD to leave, because our meters had run out (see my comment above about meters and parking lots... sigh). It was now pouring. It was a little before 3 p.m.
It took me a while to get to the freeway - streets are so narrow in LA with cars parked on the right side, so people are always weaving back and forth... And it was completely bumper to bumper the second I got on the damn freeway.
Did I mention that I had to pee? And that I got home at 5 p.m.? 2 hours, on the freeway. While I had to pee.... When I finally did get home, I was scared to get out of my car, because I knew that my bladder would shift a little..... :/
Home sweet home.....
I've always wanted to see Janice in person. And wanted to be a Beautiful Person. You lived the life today. Wow. And pastries sound so good right now...
